റിപബ്ലിക് ടിവി മേധാവി അര്‍ണബ് ഗോസ്വാമിയെ മുംബൈ പോലീസ് അറസ്റ്റ് ചെയ്തു. വീട്ടിലെത്തിയാണ് കസ്റ്റഡിയിലെടുത്തത്. ആത്മഹത്യാ പ്രേരണക്കുറ്റം ചുമത്തിയാണ് അറസ്റ്റ്. ബലംപ്രയോഗിച്ചാണ് അര്‍ണബിനെ പോലീസ് കസ്റ്റഡിയിലെടുത്തത്.
മാധ്യമസ്വാതന്ത്ര്യത്തിനെതിരായ കടന്നാക്രണമെന്ന് കേന്ദ്രമന്ത്രി ജാവദേക്കര്‍ പറഞ്ഞു. അര്‍ണബിന്റെ അറസ്റ്റ് അടിയന്തരാവസ്ഥയെ ഓര്‍മിപ്പിക്കുന്നതെന്നും പ്രകാശ് ജാവദേക്കര്‍ പറഞ്ഞു. എന്നാല്‍ പ്രതികാരനടപടിയല്ലെന്നും അറസ്റ്റ് നിയമപരമാണെന്നും ശിവസേന അറിയിച്ചു.
